Effective Email Marketing is all about getting the best conversions so things like subject line, design and content really matter.
Here’s a quick tip when creating your email marketing templates that most people forget about. Most email clients such as Gmail will display the subject line of an email and then a snippet of the email content. It is common for most email marketing templates to start off with something similar to “If you cannot view the email below, please view online”, so this is the snippet that the recipient will see when they are looking at their inbox.
Tip: Don’t use “If you cannot view the email below, please view online” as the first line of content in your email template.
Email Marketing tip
Try using other text before ‘If you cannot view the email below’ as this is what your recipients will see in their inbox after the email subject.
The aim of your email marketing campaign should be to get as many opens that convert into sales or enquiries, so it is vital to grab attention from the get go. A better use of the first line of your email template is to describe the offer or main reason for your email. You can then have the standard link to the online version of your template.
An example of how to start your email template
An example of a better start to your email template would be something like: “Summer sale is now on – at least 25% off for subscribers”. The email subject might be something like “Some cool Summer savings”.
This makes it much clearer to the recipient what the contents of the email might be so they will be more inclined to open it than just ignoring it or deleting it before opening it.
